Mingus (1974) was born in the Dutch city of Gouda, where he attended his first house parties at the Xienix Club in the late eighties. In 1990 he moved to Maastricht, a city in the south of the Netherlands with a small but progressing underground house scene.

In 2003 Mingus was invited by Break3000 (Dirt Crew) to play his first gig at Cooking Vinyl in Club Backstage, after which he started organising his own parties titled Club Miami. Together with Clockwork (Electronation) he started the illustrious Black and Blue parties. Between 2004 and 2011 Mingus played weekly in a variety of venues and settings, including the Vendex, the A Gogo parties, EPM music in THE ZOO (Hasselt, BE) – together with Oliver Way and Robert Hood – and the Electronation parties in Maastricht.

In 2006 Mingus launched a new series of underground events called Stopcontact, which specifically focused on programming local talent. From 2009 onwards he often teamed up with Dia Y Noche to play long sets at To The Point and Il Cavo. In Amsterdam, Mingus has played at café Vaaghuijzen and Cirque Excentrique. In 2012 he played at Magneet Festival and Solar.

Mingus still throws intimate vinyl-only parties together with Milan Palma, under the title River Rhythms. In addition, he is a resident DJ at Cloud 9. His musical landscape ranges from deep house to techno, mashed into a distinctive, full, and genuine sound.
